Saved by the Bells

I’m sure we’ve all had days where you wish you didn’t have to change out of your PJ’s…well yesterday was one of those days for me…day off…some things to do around the house…some errunds to run…nothing special.  But it seems as though the days I decide to just run out with my unwashed hair and schlubby jammies are the days that I bump into someone I know and have to sit through an awkward conversation looking like a hot mess…

Welp…I decided not to have one of those days…but I did manage to put together an outfit that was just as good if not better than pajamas because on top of being super  comfortable head to toe…there were bellbottoms involved…big…soft….bellbottoms…

While I was at the post office this older man told me that my outfit just brought him back to his hippie days…he said I looked like all his friends in high school and that I looked great! Thanks post office guy!…I gotta say that made me feel pretty cool :)

Outfit: My favorite new pair of bells that I wish I could wear everyday and will probably wear to sleep on occasion-F21, Tank-American Eagle, Cardigan-Pure Sugar, Bag-Mossimo, Shoes: you’ll never knowww…muahahaa…

Horsing Around

This recent “springy” weather has made me want to break out some of the brighter things in my closet.  I usually wear a lot of neutrals, but sometimes its fun to add a little splash of color to an outfit with just one bold bright-colored item…like say…bright blue pants…

It was tempting…and would be very easy to make a great spring or summer outfit with these pants but…we’re not quite there yet…so I played the color down a bit by pairing them with darker colors on top…and yes…I’m wearing black and brown…a fashion “no-no” that I don’t believe in…clearly.

The other day I had on a pair of bell bottoms and my dad referred to my feet as “horse hooves”…I get what he means…clomp clomp clomp…but I still love them…

Sweet yin yang tassel necklace I scored on the swap.com market! (check it out but beware… you will become addicted…) :)

Marley and Me

Sometimes there’s nothing I’d rather be wearing than a t-shirt and jeans…especially when it means I can spend the day with Bob….:)

Outfit: Sweater-Urban Outfitters, Bob Marley tee-hand me down from Chris, Boyfriend jean-Roxy, Belt-F21, Booties-Ditto, Clutch-Sabina New York

The Odd Couple

I’m having a little texture party with this outfit…I’ve been living in this sweater all winter it’s so warm…but usually I’m wearing it around the house with sweatpants and my LL Bean slippers…real cute…

Sometimes I’ll throw it on with jeans and tall boots…but to mix it up…I paired it with these black shiny leggings. I think the combination really bumps the sweater up a notch and makes the leggings stand out without being too flashy.

Outfit: I <3 Ronsen jacket and black purse-thrifted from Alexis Grace Consignment, Sweater-thrifted by Jamie, stolen by me :), Kensie shiny zipper legging, H&M fringe necklace and booties

Father/Daughter Project Part 2

We finally finished the office!! This past weekend my Dad recruited Jess and Jamie for the actual “moving of furniture”…apparently my muscles weren’t big enough to attend that party…….whatever Russ…whatever…

He and I spent the next day organizing and decorating! (the fun part!)  It was a bit challenging because I had little pinterest home design images floating around in my head…but I had to remember that this room was not for me…

He wanted to use the furniture and decor that he already had….was willing to get rid of certain things if necessary…and the only thing he wanted to buy new was a carpet.  It was very important to him that the new office had some familiarity and was just as warm and cozy as the last…

Mission accomplished…at least we think so :)

I guess there was still some “dirty work” to be done…literally…I repotted all of his plants…and some new ones that we adopted from some of his co-workers…they were all so happy to be out of their 20yr old soil!

View from the entrance…one last touch we didn’t get to but plan to add is to stack logs in the fireplace…I think it will really finish off the room…

Dad’s leather throne with a backdrop full of personal touches :)…(right to left-his grandmothers oriental rug, a book painting done by my Uncle Paul, an adopted hanging plant, and framed gifts from patients…)

His old bookcase got a little make over after a minor accident knocked off one of the doors…I think it actually helped really give it a fresh look!

Besides books…it is full of little trinkets and gifts collected over the years…I loved hearing all the great little stories behind each one…

The mantel also is a new home for some of his little treasures…and a beautiful drawing done by my brother :)

This ended up being A LOT of work…but it was so much fun and I’m thrilled that my Dad is really happy with the outcome….

Here’s to 20 more years in a new space! <3

I Got Served…by Talbots…

I’m not quite sure where my sore feelings for Talbots came from…but for some reason every time my mom wants to drag me inside “real quick” I get super cranky about it…only Talbots makes me feel this way about shopping…

The other day was no different…I went out with Mom and whatta ya know?…Talbots is having a 60% off sale! She convinced me to go in rather than sit in the car and freeze…so I did…stomping my little snow boots and crossing my arms like a bratty child…

I eventually sucked it up and helped her shop around for a bit when all of the sudden…somewhere in the sea of pleated khakis and sweater sets I found this little velvety beaut…

They say love happens when you least expect it…and “they” were right…I certainly wasn’t expecting it to happen at…Talbotssss…

My mom got great pleasure out of this whole situation…and I…got this great little burnt orange jacket…

Well played Talbots…well played.

Outfit: I think you’ve figured out where the jackets from by now, F21 Jimi tank and jeans, swapped shoes (being shy) , thrifted bag, misc accessories
